The average person needs about 8 to 12 cups (8 oz. each) of fluids. Fluids include other drinks like juice, coffee, tea, milk, diet sodas, etc. but plain water should make up at least ½ of the fluids you drink. Watch out for high calorie drinks, too much caffeine (because it is dehydrating) and increase fluids during hot weather or increased exercise/physical work.
